Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior MEP Engineer to join our team. This role is critical for the planning and design of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems across our projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing policies, standards, and inspection procedures while ensuring the successful execution of all MEP projects. The Senior MEP engineer should be able to cater for sustainability and energy efficiency in the MEP Design, reflecting current and future industry trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the complete execution of MEP projects, ensuring alignment with quality, cost, and schedule constraints as well as compliance with all regulatory and safety standards
- Design and develop detailed plans for HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Firefighting systems.
- Collaborate with project planners to coordinate MEP and infrastructure work, providing insights on constructability and activity sequencing, using BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools for better coordination and efficiency
- Review and administer MEP-related material, equipment, and drawing submittals to ensure compliance with specifications and industry best practices.
- Monitor procurement schedules of contractors and confirm timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Ensure execution of MEP work on-site aligns with contract drawings, specifications, procedures, and method statements and ensure quality control and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and approve MEP subcontractors’ work procedures and method statements.
- Manage engineers’ inspections on-site, verifying compliance with specifications and safety protocols
- Ensure MEP subcontractors provide necessary control documentation in an organized manner and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Review MEP valuations in line with actual progress and check for variations.
- Produce performance reports for MEP contractors and present findings to stakeholders.
- Attend design coordination meetings with the Project Management team, consultants, and other contractors as required, while providing technical input during project meetings
- Ensure As-Built drawings, manuals, and related documentation are prepared, reviewed, submitted, and approved on time and per contract specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers reporting to the Senior MEP Engineer.
Candidate Profiling:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in MEP engineering, with a focus on project execution and design.
- Registered Engineer, ideally with the Council of Registered Engineers Mauritius, in the Field of MEP
- In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Firefighting systems.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools for design and drafting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and the ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and adapt to changing project requirements
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and building codes related to MEP systems and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to oversee subcontractors and coordinate with different stakeholders and the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
