Management Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily accounting and input journal entries database.
  • Prepare cash flow and follow-up of expenses along with the General Manager.
  • Accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts for the company.
  • Ensure that management reports are submitted according to group deadlines and formats.
  • Monthly update of schedules as per trial balance such as (Prepayment, Accruals, Provisions, Property Plant and Equipment, Sundry Debtors, Sundry Creditors, Deposits, etc).
  • Update Fixed Asset Register on monthly basis.
  • Filing of all statutory returns monthly with all related workings attached.
  • Reconciliation of operational stock (Physical stock compared with accounting system).
  • Ensure all procedures are followed before preparing payment for authorized signatures.
  • Prepare and send Annual statements such as TDS, statement of suppliers to Mauritius Revenue Authority.
  • Assist the Group Accountant and Financial Accountant in the preparation of the annual financial statements.
  • Ensure all financial standard operating procedures (SOP) are maintained.
  • Attend financial meeting along with General Manager.
  • Ensures that income tax and value added tax (VAT) are submitted on time and are correctly calculated and are kept according to legal requirements.
  • Assist the General Manager in the on the preparation of Budget.
  • Assist in any other duties with respect to the trading activities of the Company.
  • Inform any variances on management accounts and prepares all relevant reports.
  • Ensure the reporting of key performance indicators such sales revenues, costs, margins and assets values.
  • Co-operates with internal and external auditors by providing required information to produce statutory reports.
  • Leads the accounting team towards optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Assist in any other duties with respect to the trading activities of the company.


  • Degree in Accounting/Partly or Fully Qualified Accountant.
  • Experience as Accountant in sectors such as Manufacturing/Contracting/Construction.
  • Strong Analytical skills and accounting knowledge.
  • Strong calculation skills with excellent knowledge in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of accounting software, SAP, SAGE, etc.
  • Ability to prepare and consolidate Management Accounts/strong financial reporting skills.
  • Ability to review financial data and support Management in decision making.
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Possess a clean certificate of character.
  • Punctual and flexible in working hours.
  • Professional in approach.
