Legal Manager

Job Purpose:

As Legal Manager, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the legal interests related to the Evaco Group and its subsidiaries. You will be the go-to expert on legal matters, provide strategic legal advice to Top Management and manage internal processes to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all legal matters affecting the Evaco Group and its subsidiaries.
  • Offer strategic guidance to Management and Business Units, regarding legal matters pertaining to the respective industries.
  • Draft and review a variety of legal documents, including but not limited to Purchase Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, Lease Agreements, and Development Contracts to facilitate various real estate business transactions.
  • Ensure the Evaco Group and its subsidiaries adhere to all applicable regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and updates of legal policies and procedures within all companies of the Evaco Group.
  • Manage litigation and resolve disputes as required.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary and oversee cases from inception to resolution as assigned by the relevant Head of Business Unit and Top Management Rep.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on due diligence processes ensuring thorough analysis of legal risks and implications.
  • Organize training sessions for staff on legal practices, compliance issues, and risk management strategies related to real estate operations.
  • Mentor and supervise junior legal staff to enhance their professional growth.
  • Stay up to date on changes affecting the operations of the Evaco Group and its subsidiaries, and develop internal policies and protocols in response to these changes.

Qualifications:

  • Member of the Mauritius Bar Association
  • Previous legal experience at Management Level, with a preference for experience working within a corporate legal department or real estate firm.
  • Well versed with laws and regulations including but not limited to property transactions, land use, leasing, and environmental statutes.
  • Strong negotiation skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to legal challenges.
