Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage production systems: Organize, manage and maintain all aspects of productions, including product design, production planning and establish proper control thematic.
  • Review and establish proper control systems to reduce and mitigate production losses and optimize better manufacturing costs.
  • Liaise with Foreman for daily planning regarding manufacturing of products as per scope of work and in line with deadlines and transfer of products on respective sites.
  • Ensure Team Leaders of each section are engaged in daily activities of each unit of operations and proper resource allocation is in place.
  • Ensure proper recording of information is done daily in relation to efficiency of factory vs operational requirements.
  • Conduct briefing on a regular basis to obtain factual feedback on work in progress, issues during manufacturing process and other limitations and establish action plan going forward for better output.
  • Raise awareness on key subjects regarding each project in the pipeline and advise on action plan or alternative routes to consider for better decision.
  • Ensure proper communication of information not limited to measurements, client modifications, add-ons, critical data and items to Draughtsman team, Design Team and other internal departments within the Group.
  • Conduct inspection during manufacturing process along with Foreman, Team Leader, Industrial Engineer, Project Manager, Draughtsman.
  • Advise Head of Department on technical aspects, provide suggestions on key matters of discussion and participate in decision making for the proper running of the department.
  • Maintain constant liaison with Storekeeper to ensure that required materials, consumables are available in stock, validate purchase requisition and ensure availability of materials for proper manufacturing stage.
  • Conduct Site Visits along with Site Supervisors to inspect quality of works and provide expertise recommendations for better output.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures that are mandatory and critical in a manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with Safety & Health representative to ensure that proper risk assessments are done, proper training is provided, regular machine inspections are done, and other risks are identified and properly handled in terms of manual handling and documentation.
  • Conduct regular assessment along with other stakeholders in matters involving risks at work, ways to handle tools and machineries and precautionary measures requirements for a risk-free and safe working environment.
  • Ensure that all team members are given the relevant training to understand the processes and to provide the desired output.
  • Ensure that common objectives are clearly communicated to and understood by all team members.
  • Maintain the team’s job results by counselling and disciplining employees as well as planning, monitoring and appraising them.
  • Ensure that evaluation, objectives settings and performance management are set, explained, and maintained.
  • Be accountable for the department and team’s productivity, efficiency, including punctuality and discipline.
  • Monitor budgets vs forecast vs operational requirements and prepare relevant reports for presentations and advise on status of financial implications.
  • Advise on materials purchase through proper analysis, comparison and other cost associated prior to purchase.
  • Monitor and control the flow of supplies that includes the purchase, storage and movement of required quality of raw materials and inventory.
  • Study prices of wood/timber through market research analysis and forecast concerning supply, demand, trade and prices of wood/timber.
  • Monitor productivity level on a regular basis and provide factual analysis and input for payment of bonuses for each section as per budgeted productivity bonus.
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production and quality of output.
  • Provide process documentation, operating instructions, department flow chart and accountability as part of departmental responsibilities and objectives.
  • Ensure that all tasks are properly handled, assembled, verified and in line with the agreed scope of work, through the relevant processes and verifications.
  • Provide expertise knowledge to the Head of Business Unit for each work in progress.
  • Ensure that the strategy and the directives given by Management are followed. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the services provided by your department.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications related to Manufacturing field.
  • Hands on work experience as Floor Manager/Production Manager for Timber/Wood manufacturing and contracting.
  • Excellent knowledge of different types of timber used for manufacturing.
  • Ability to efficiently manage factory manufacturing process.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills related to wood trade.
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Ability to prepare reports, dashboard, efficiency process.
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to manage budget.
  • Good team management skills and tasks delegation.
  • Punctual, professional and good interpersonal skills.
  • Holder of a valid driving license and must have own vehicle.
  • Possess a clean certificate of character.
  • Flexible in working hours and ability to work odd hours.
