Overall responsibility

 The Cost Estimator will add value to construction process by maximising the project margin and managing the costs from the design plans up to completion of the project while meeting all legal aspects and also ensure quality standards.

Performs – inter alia – the following duties:

  • Review, analyse the scope of works along with contract terms and conditions.
  • Measurement on architectural and structural drawings prior preparing BOQ for tender.
  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation.
  • To analyse tenders received and prepare tender reports, attend meetings with contractors’ prior appointments.
  • Attend regular Site Visit to check progress of work and to attend site meetings when required.
  • Prepare various Quantity Surveying documents including budgetary estimates from sketch drawings, Bill of materials, quantities and costs estimates.
  • To assess and prepare the Interim payment certificates for contractors for payment purposes.
  • Discuss with the responsible supervisory personnel for the projects, clients, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters related with QS.
  • Provide assistance to the estimating team if required for material pricing and rate analysis.
  • Prepare evaluations/cost projections of the assignment to meet requirements of works in progress.
  • Liaise with site managers, contractors to advise on requirements of contract.
  • Inspect site for collection of information for monthly statement and assessment of costs of works and expected final cost.
  • Perform cost analysis and draw up reports on changes to works.
  • Report loss of revenue or concerns with project budget.
  • Helping in preparation and maintaining at a regular basis a price library.
  • Carry out any other duties not identified above and as required by any designated person in management.

Qualifications:

  • BSc Quantity Surveying
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience either working as a site QS or Client QS
