Building Services Engineer (Mechanical)

Job Description

Your duties and responsibilities will include – inter alia – the following:

  • Design, maintain, implement and improve mechanical facilities, components, equipment, products, or systems for the clients’ purposes.
  • Perform engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.
  • Ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing mechanical systems specifications and technical drawings.
  • Establish manufacturing or installation standards or specifications by performing the relevant range of detailed calculations for the required products.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing/supporting/coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support or testing activities.
  • Manage engineers inspections on site and ensure that the installation is in accordance with the specifications.
  • Provide reports and compile data regarding existing and potential mechanical engineering projects and studies as per requirements.
  • Prepare specifications and Bills of Quantities for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials.
  • Assures product quality by designing mechanical testing methods; testing and commissioning finished products and system capabilities in factory and on-site.
  • Supervise the project team members as per operational requirements; provide training & coaching to junior staff as and when required.
  • Ensure quality control on site of contractors’ and sub-contractors’ work.
  • Preparation of technical, performance specifications and Bills of Quantities for Tender documents.
  • Estimate material, labour, or construction costs for budget preparation as well as Bill of Quantities.
  • Ensure that As Built drawings, manuals and other related documentation is prepared, reviewed, submitted and approved in a timely manner and in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

 Experience and Skills:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Experience in the design of HVAC, Public Health, Fire Protection & Vertical Transportation systems.
  • Experience in designing for energy efficiency.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience.
  • Good knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written in English.
  • Professional registration with the CRPE will be an advantage.

The Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) reports to the Senior MEP Engineer.
